Problem

My furnace is running very loud but it is still heating.

Possible Cause:

This sounds like it may be a dirty air filter. If you do not replace your air filter regularly you starve your furnace of air. Newer blower motors will attempt to overcome the restriction by increasing speed just to get by. Turn off the power to your furnace and then slide out and look at the filter. If it is indeed dirty go get a replacement and put it in. It is not recommended to run the furnace without a filter ever. If you have an older belt driven furnace it may be the belt is lose or needs replacement, or can also be a loud exhaust motor or bearings going on the blower motor. If it's not a filter, it is best to have a technician look at it.
